This is not real. Just an idea of mine. Also, this is slightly on the abstract side of thought.
Just think what the internet has done for us. 20 Years ago people couldn't sell LEGO products,
like I do, to make money. Much of Africa today cannot make money in these ways.
I think it would be highly beneficial if we got our old computers hooked up a lower-tech version
of the internet for all of Africa. Then they might be able to make money, and boost their economy,
just like the internet did for us!
Just something to chew on.
This is a great idea. I'm glad you are making money selling Legos. Capitalism is working here!

ReplyDeleteIt would be great if this could be done in a way that would be sustainable - i.e. that would allow the beneficiaries to "keep it going" with their own resources and skills (like to maintain and improve the system when the equipment begins to deteriorate, for instance).
And who would their main consumer base be? (Who is yours, incidentally? What's the profile of the majority of people who buy your product?) Would they sell to others within their own group? Or consumers "outside"? And what products might they have to sell?
You've raised several intriguing questions here, Graham.
I think you have some very good ideas, Graham. I see you as a mover and a shaker of your generation. Big ideas are already streaming in your young mind. When you run for president, you will have my vote.

ReplyDeleteThey could sell essentials at first, but assuming
the economy improved because of it, there would then be a market for...Dunno! Maybe LEGO toys!
[Anonymous/Sherri] Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you think... It just take one small idea to change the entire world. Keep this up and I am certain we will be hearing very big things from you in the future! This idea really could work. Think through he details and write up a proposal. I am certain someone or some company would provide seed money for the upstart expenses. A summer project in the works perhaps?
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
This idea is far better than having the equipment go into some landfill.
